Contra Corriente: Mexicanas in the US is an exhibition with the purpose of presenting a new generation of talented Mexican women artists that work and live in the US.

The artwork presented in this exhibition reflects the experiences lived by the Mexican woman living in the US, being a minority within a minority—Mexican and woman at the same time. These experiences are observed from the unique standpoint of the Mexican woman artist.

Contra Corriente: Mexicanas in the US explores issues of sexuality, immigration, culture, stereotypes, and gender, showing the unique perspective of the contemporary Mexican woman artist, translating it into a dynamic visual language.
